The Music Festival usually hosts around 700 SCSIA Students.
It is NOT necessary for a school to have a chorus, music, or band program to participate.
Individuals from any SCISA Member School may participate.

Important Information (Please read carefully and completely.)

SCISA Dress Code: NO JEANS OR SHORTS (including uniform shorts)


Works chosen should be selected for the purpose of displaying the full range of the student’s technical skill and interpretive ability.

The performance of contemporary music is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.


The student must provide his/her own accompanist. (if needed)

The use of CDs or tapes for accompaniment is NOT permissible.

Any repeats NOT taken should be noted in the score.

STUDENTS MUST PRESENT ADJUDICATION FORM(S)
TO JUDGES AT THE TIME OF THEIR PERFORMANCE.
Forms will be sent with schedules and may be duplicated as needed.

Runners will collect forms from each room throughout
the day and teachers (or students with teacher’s permission) will claim them from the SCISA Staff in the lobby.

NUMERICAL RATINGS This number rating will
determine which medal the
student is eligible to purchase.
Using this formula:

#1 SUPERIOR (Gold)
#2 EXCELLENT (Silver)
#3 GOOD (Bronze)

VOICE = Limit 3 students in each division
SOLO - ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOL (Limit of three students in each division)
SMALL ENSEMBLE - From 5 to 14 students (Limit one ensemble per division)
LARGE ENSEMBLE - Fifteen or more students (Limit one ensemble per division)

KEYBOARD - Limit 3 students in each division
PIANO SOLO - ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOL (Limit of three students per division) $10.00 each
ORGAN SOLO - MIDDLE , HIGH SCHOOL (Limit of three students in MS & HS) $10.00 each

INSTRUMENTAL - Limit 3 students each division
SOLO - ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOL ( Limit of three students in each division)
SMALL ENSEMBLE - From 5 to 14 students (Limit one ensemble per division)
LARGE ENSEMBLE - Fifteen or more students (Limit one ensemble per division)

A STUDENT MAY PERFORM IN NO MORE THAN TWO EVENTS.
A STUDENT THAT ACTS AS AN ACCOMPANIST IS
CONSIDERED TO BE IN THE PERFORMANCE.

NO ACCOMPANIST IS PROVIDED BY USC OR SCISA.

REQUIREMENTS

VOICE OR INSTRUMENTAL SOLO
Time limit - 8 minutes
One or two selections of published works (one original copy of each selection with numbered measures for judge)

VOICE OR INSTRUMENTAL SMALL ENSEMBLE
Time limit - 8 minutes
One selection of a published work (one original copy with numbered measures for judge)

VOICE OR INSTRUMENTAL LARGE ENSEMBLE
Time limit - 20 minutes
Two or three selections of published works of contrasting styles (two original copies with numbered measures for judge)

KEYBOARD
Time limit - 10 minutes
One or two selections of published works (one original copy of each selection with numbered measures for judge)

Judges must have an original copy of the music. If an original copy is not available, the school must provide proof of purchase or original music from a music dealer or publisher and a statement to that effect must be attached for the judge.
